What you will do

As the Senior Manager, Workplace Practices you will be responsible for HR policies, practices, and procedures, as well as risk assessment, management, and mitigation, throughout Latin America. In this role, you will serve as the primary contact for Latin America to the global Workplace Practices team and you will work closely with HR leadership, business-facing HR, HR Operations, and COEs in the region.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Lead the efforts of Stryker to ensure compliance with employment and work regulations in the region.

  • Lead the development and implementation of HR policies and standards for the region.

  • Work with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with employment and work regulations.

  • Be the policy and process owner for employment practices, including, among other things, severance, and termination; reductions in force and restructuring; data privacy for employees; new hire paperwork and standards; absence and leaves; harassment and anti-discrimination; employee handbooks; drug or alcohol use; conflicts of interest; and labor union requirements.

  • Provide counsel and advice to HR professionals, leaders, and managers regarding HR policies, employee relations, and other matters related to workplace practices or HR compliance.

  • Lead the development of training programs in the region to ensure HR, Leaders, managers, and employees receive appropriate training and communication regarding HR policies and practices and HR compliance.

  • Lead the response to internal and external audits of employment practices.

  • Develop and implement materials for RIFs, retirement, and severance strategies in compliance with legal regulations and requirements for RIFs and restructurings in the region.

  • Lead Stryker's compliance efforts concerning data privacy associated with employee data.

  • Communicate requirements from Workplace Practices to the LATAM region and from the region to the Workplace Practices team.

What you need

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 10+ years of work experience required​

  • Previous HR or role-related experience required​

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish are required

  • 5+ years of business-facing HR, HR COE, HR Operations, or role-related experience preferred​

  • Working knowledge of laws and regulations of employment in Latin America preferred

  • Experience in risk assessment and management preferred
