Position Description
SPECIAL NOTE: This is a temporary position expected to end July 1, 2025
The Science & Engineering Division of Environmental Services is offering an internship opportunity for a college-level GIS student to work in a team where their GIS skills can be applied, receive hands-on experience, and work side-by-side with experienced professionals in Environmental Services’ GIS section
This position will provide technical support for a variety of GIS projects, assisting in data acquisition, conversion, and creation. Work will include analysis, reporting, tracking, and resolution of data quality issues and enhancement of the stormwater and wastewater network to better serve the business and operational needs of Environmental Services.
Hours and Terms:
The approved hours for this position are up to 40 hours per week. The amount of hours and schedule are negotiable. A partial telework schedule, may also be available.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An equivalent combination to:
Graduation from high school or GED
Typically the applicant should be enrolled in college or study programs related to information technology or possess equivalent experience
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
Familiarity with ArcGIS and Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word), desired.

Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.
Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.
Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
