Seasonal Hire - Neurology (BRAINS Lab)

The BRAINS Laboratory is looking for students to join us for a summer position! Students will perform some basic laboratory techniques such as protein quantification, Western Blot, PCR, immunohistochemistry, tissue processing for histological analysis, multiplex, among others. Also, under supervision, the student will design experiments to answer simple hypothesis. Summer students will establish research collaborations with postdoctoral research fellow, which will be in charge of his day-to-day lab training.

POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Dispenses biohazardous materials by autoclaving and bagging for disposal.

  2. Washes and sterilizes glassware, pipets, instruments and tips. Soaks glassware and instruments in dichromate acid to remove stubborn stains

  3. Collects lab coats daily for laundry, completes laundry slips with the number of submitted coats, and returns the lab coats to their proper labs.

  4. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education: None

  • Individuals must be a minimum age of 16 years.

  • High School diploma or equivalent, preferred.

Minimum Experience: None

  • One year of experience with laboratory and/or scientific procedures, preferred

Residency Requirement:

  • Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
