College of Mount Saint Vincent HEOP Pre- Freshman Seminar Instructor in The Bronx, New York

The Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Pre-Freshman Seminar Instructor. This role is pivotal in preparing incoming students for the academic challenges of college life. The instructor will focus on developing students' foundational skills in math or English, depending on their area of expertise.

  • Position Period - July 9 through August 1, 2024.

  • Work Schedule - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective seminars focused on either math or English.

  • Assess student progress through assignments, exams, and other evaluative tools.

  • Provide constructive feedback and support to help students improve their academic skills.

  • Collaborate with other HEOP staff to tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and growth.

  • Participate in training sessions and meetings as required by the HEOP program.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Education, Mathematics, English, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Proven experience in teaching and tutoring at the high school or college/university level.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to educational equity and the mission of HEOP.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of, students educators and administrators.
