U.S. Pacific Fleet, Commander in Chief INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in Tinker AFB, Oklahoma

Summary You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT of STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS WING ONE. Responsibilities You will serve as a technical expert in planning and risk management for accreditation of DoD Information Systems. You will coordinate and integrate technical aspects of computer work with administrative matters such as standards management, acquisition and configuration management, and Information Technology (IT) security risk management. You will assist in developing Command cybersecurity policies and procedures to assure information system confidentiality, availability, and integrity to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data. You will participate in network and systems design discussions to ensure local implementation of appropriate systems security policies and controls. You will ensure the rigorous application of information security, cybersecurity, policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of all IT services. You will research and study cyber vulnerability reports, threat assessments, and network security publications to keep abreast and make recommendations on state-of-the-art information security technology and information security trends. You will advise and coordinate development of IT standards by working with functional managers at dispersed locations to evaluate the impact of proposed standards and procedures on the accomplishment of activity goals and objectives. You will manage the implementation, publication and dissemination of aircraft cybersecurity technical and procedural standards to the user community. You will manage the IT Risk Management, Security, and Contingency Planning programs for aircraft IT systems by implementing procedures and ensuring quick and accurate recovery of data stemming from the loss/destruction of data and program files. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing and evaluating cyber security tools, procedures, and protocols to identify information technology security requirements and compliance issues in order to prevent unauthorized access to systems, networks, or data. Your experience must also reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Analyzing operating systems or software to monitor compliance with cybersecurity requirements; reviewing certification and accreditation documentation to ensure compliance with accreditation process; supporting internal audits; execute Risk Management Framework (RMF); design, develop, test, field, and maintain date structures and network architecture. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Providing technical support, training and consultation services to functional analysts, programmers, remote processing customers, or configuration management personnel on subjects such as operating system architecture and capabilities, system generation alternatives, configuration alternatives, data file management, system utility capabilities, standards and procedures, configuration management, performance management, capacity planning, and network control and management. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Participating in network and systems design discussions to ensure local implementation of appropriate systems security policies and controls; providing guidance or recommendations on corrective actions to identify procedural or systems deficiencies; interact collaboratively with others and to be able to negotiate and resolve complex issues associated with cyber security and Risk Management Framework (RMF). 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Assessing security events to determine impact and implementation of appropriate corrective actions; identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and to make recommendations. Education The following education may be substituted for specialized experience: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks; OR Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
