Amazon Business Analyst, Decision Science and Technology in Tokyo, Japan

Are you passionate about working with data to generate insights and eager to make broad business impact?

The Decision, Science and Technology team (DST) is looking for a customer obsessed, data driven Business Analyst to join our team based in Tokyo, Japan.

You will play a key role in working closely with the Field RME Leaders (Reliability and Maintenance Engineering) in understanding the business pain points and coming up with data driven science solutions that can be piloted and further expanded across the network.

A successful candidate will be logical, innovative, flexible and will have the ability to balance excellent analytical and technical skills while driving communication and collaboration with key business partners.

Key job responsibilities

1) Drive piloting and expansion of science products and programs in collaboration with Field Leaders, DST scientists and global program managers.

2) Own the design and development of key metrics and own the publishing of periodic reports to drive key business decisions in partnership with Field Leaders.

3) Analyze data with deep understanding of business and related systems and validate data to ensure high data quality and reliable, meaningful insights.

4) Writing SQL codes to retrieve and analyze data. Working with large data sets, automate data extraction, and build monitoring/reporting dashboard

5) Communicating complex analysis and insights to our stakeholders and business leaders, both verbally and in writing.

6) Work closely with Operations and RME Leadership to present insights, drive cross team collaboration and align on the roadmap items

A day in the life

As a Business Analyst in DST (Japan) you will be focused on leading the development of science solutions through technical work supporting RME’s Predictive Maintenance (PdM) and Condition Based monitoring programs. You will connect with Field Leadership to understand their pain points and provide recommendations . This role has high visibility and involves interactions with Sr. Field Leaders on a day to day basis.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Experience with SQL

  • 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • 3+ years of Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau experience

  • Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights

  • Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders

  • Business level of English and Japanese

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in business or analytical discipline
