The opportunity
This is a 12-month contract role.
The successful candidate will work remotely from anywhere in Canada
Reporting to the Manager, eLearning Products, the E-Learning Specialist will work with a cross-functional team to design, develop, and implement e-learning programs for our resuscitation department. These programs, including blended and online learning, will meet the specific needs of our clients and enhance their overall experience with our service and Heart & Stroke.
The E-Learning Specialist will also support the creation of standardized resources, processes and templates for e-learning development, and will support and build the capacity of Heart & Stroke staff and other stakeholders in instructional design and e-learning concepts and technology.
How you will make an impact every day
Drives robust design and implementation of accessible e-learning by executing technical e-learning solutions and collaborating with content experts on the resuscitation team
Conducts environmental scans and needs assessments that identify key drivers and critical success factors for e-learning
Acts as a department in-house subject matter expert on e-learning and instructional design
Prioritizes the needs and abilities of clients in the design and development of e-learning.
Works with the platform development team and subject matter experts to design and execute e-learning programs and elements for the platform, resource materials, presentations and other e-learning content.
Provides expertise in online instructional design including research and input on the appropriate technical specifications and technology, infrastructure, and opportunities for evaluation of e-learning.
Plans and implements the seamless integration of e-learning with other existing digital content and planned informational and support content on the Resuscitation platform.
Executes technical e-learning solutions, including e-learning authoring and design, documentation, and incorporation of multimedia such as video, audio, animation, and gamification.
Ensures the development of accessible, relevant products by incorporating WCAG and accessibility standards and solutions, as well as continual user testing for validation and feedback.
Develops metrics to evaluate e-learning programs and elements.
Creates standardized and widely applicable e-learning templates and resources
Support the creation of widely applicable e-learning resources, processes and instructional templates, standards for e-learning components and standardized documentation and evaluation of e-learning for use both internally and externally as needed
Reviews and contributes to digital content with a focus on learning
Tracks and monitors e-learning processes and offerings for continuous quality improvement.
Designs, develops, monitors and manages multiple e-learning elements at one time.
Conducts evaluation on e-learning programs and outcomes with a view to program improvement.
Collaborates with and mentors staff for greater internal cooperation and capacity
Mentors and supports cross functional stakeholders on learning principles, e-learning course creation software and e-learning tools to increase internal capacity.
Keeps abreast of e-learning scientific research and professional development to ensure the use of an evidenced-informed approach to the design and development of e-learning.
Who we need
Education
- Post-secondary degree in adult education, learning design, psychology, neuroscience, health, public health, or a related field, with specialization or certification in learning / e-learning
Experience
5 years of related work experience is required, with a minimum 2 years of online instructional design (e-learning) experience
Experience developing e-learning using e-learning authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline or Camtasia required
Experience with Learning Management Systems such as Adobe Captivate Prime, Docebo, 360Learning or Moodle required
Demonstrated ability to work within API standards (including SCORM and xAPI)
Experience with Sitecore, SharePoint, Blackbaud CRM, other e-learning tools and project management tools (i.e. Jira, Asana, Basecamp) to support successful project delivery would be an asset
Multimedia (video, audio, animation, gamification) incorporation in e-learning design
Experience collaborating on large projects with multiple stakeholders (internal or external) and project elements
Experience with online platform design to deliver knowledge / programs or technology development experience would be considered a valuable asset
Experience working with accessibility standards or populations with alternate online learning needs desired
Experience with membership-based organizations/professional organizations desired
Skills
Knowledge of e-learning design principles and ability to apply knowledge into practice
Knowledge of adult learning principles
Demonstrated ability and knowledge of methods and techniques to assess learning needs, of clients and stakeholders, to plan and set goals and objectives for learning activities and to coordinate the infrastructure (i.e. processes, technology) for learning
Knowledge of program evaluation methods to develop performance measures and report on program outcomes
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic, demanding environment
Strong working knowledge of e-learning authoring tools, Learning Management Systems, SCORM / xAPI (Tin Can API)-compliant programming and other tools for e-learning design and implementation
Hands-on experience with e-learning authoring, creating storyboards, quizzes, and multimedia applications including creating and integrating graphics, audio, video files and publishing SCORM or xAPI-compliant e-learning content
Awareness and understanding of WCAG 2.0 and other accessibility standards and experience in implementing accessibility options in e-learning design and development
Awareness and understanding of Sitecore, Blackbaud CRM and SharePoint an asset
Other computer proficiency to develop e-learning and related project materials – spreadsheets, reports, presentations, databases, templates and code
Bilingualism (French and English) would be an asset
