Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Support project planning and delivery through information and resource coordination, problem and impact analysis, solution proposals, and more.

  • Provide support in executing and delivering the ESG Data & Analytics Strategy for the Bank. In the near-term

  • This strategy is focused on delivering against the Bank’s regulatory commitments: OSFI Climate Risk Return, OSFI B-15, NZBA Facilitated Emissions, KPMG Audit etc.

  • Provide analytics support to develop Climate Transition Tools for the Bank.

  • Support reporting to company leadership and across business divisions and departments.

  • Meets scheduled milestones to ensure project/program objectives are met in a timely manner.

  • Manage multiple project workstreams and ensure end-to-end project delivery.

  • Ensure that Agile methodology and principles are executed effectively.

  • You will identify, escalate, and remove release and team impediments.

  • Manage a team of ESG Data Scientist

  • Conduct data analysis to provide actionable insights to decision-makers in the Bank.

  • Present insights and depict the rationale of findings in easy-to-understand terms for the business or senior management, including the use of data visualization techniques and dashboards.

  • Conduct analytical calculations for the yearly Bank’s Climate Report.

  • Develop innovative and effective approaches and apply statistical and predictive modeling techniques to solve analytics problems and communicate results and methodologies to business clients and senior members of the analytics team.

  • Stay current on trends in the data science and fin-tech product space, as well as financed emissions standards; translate those trends into actionable strategic and tactical objectives for the company.

  • Contribute to a culture of curiosity and innovation inside and outside of the company through presentation, demonstration and leading by example.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:

  • Exceptional stakeholder management across multiple business lines & functions

  • Strong familiarity with ESG/climate concepts/data strategy/best practices

  • Experience calculating financed emissions.

  • Understand the Scotiabank business, data, and technology ecosystem.

  • Regulatory project experience.

  • Experience leading Data & Tech delivery teams

  • Strong Project Management and Agile experience required.

  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation and Excel skills required.

  • Solid analytical and data wrangling skills. Must be comfortable working with large amounts of information and translating data into clear and concise findings.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or R.

  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, HiveQL, etc.

  • Proficient with concepts and application of machine learning algorithms in R, Python, or Spark.

  • Knowledge of visualization tools such as Power BI.

  • Knowledge of Bank Information Systems, such as product and reporting systems, including finance systems, Salesforce, and the Enterprise Data Lake, an asset.
