Henry Ford Health System Finance Manager - Service Lines in Troy, Michigan

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Finance Director of Service Lines, System Clinical Departments and Ambulatory, the Finance Manager w ill oversee the operational finance activities of the Service Lines (Cancer, Heart and Vascular, Neurosciences and Orthopedics). The primary focus will be on assisting leadership with managing the operating and capital budgets for the above division and managing the staff at the Financial Analyst, Senior Financial Analyst and Financial Consultant levels.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership and analytical support for the Service Lines listed above to contribute to the attainment of short and long range financial and business goals.

  • Accountable for all aspects of financial performance and growth within areas of responsibility.

  • Manages the month end financial process up to and including financial reporting to ensure Service Line leaders receive timely and accurate data.

  • Provide accurate and timely financial analyses and trends of services and overall program/project performance.

  • Oversee, manage and review the preparation of financial return on investment (ROI) requests and lookback reporting to determine financial viability and to ensure that financial resources are optimized.

  • Review analyses prepared by staff.

  • Partners with the Operating Units to develop an annual budget for the Service Lines.

  • Manages and reviews the strategic reports for the Service Lines and creates valuable insight and guidance based on the analysis.

  • Identifies improvements to current processes.

  • Perform all management functions for an employee at the Financial Analyst, Senior Financial Analyst and Financial Consultant level including formal evaluations and informal feedback / answering questions.

  • Provides training, continuing education, and development for staff members to ensure high levels of financial and operational acumen.

  • Serves as a role model for staff and creates an environment that recognizes the centrality of employee team members as our greatest resource.

  • Effectively multitasks and manage multiple projects / assignments occurring at the same time.

  • Effectively communicates responsibilities and deadlines to the staff.

  • Creates an environment of continual process improvement and adaptive innovation responsive to the needs of the customer.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of financial experience within finance or related field.

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of healthcare experience preferred.

  • Proficient with databases and large sets of data.

  • In depth analytical and strategic thinking skills.

    EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a finance, accounting or business major, required. MBA, CPA preferred.
