Job Title: Logistics Specialist

Location: Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ (On-Site)

Canvas is seeking a senior Logistics Specialist! This skill level typically works on high-visibility or mission critical aspects of a given program and performs all functional duties independently and may oversee the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.

Duties:

  • Performs Project Manager (PM) duties in support of the 40th Flight Test Squadron's mission of developmental test and evaluation of AF weapons and weapon systems.

  • Works closely with Test Engineers (TE) in developing test plans, conducting tests, and reporting results.

  • Operates within established 96th Test Wing test processes and procedures.

  • Advise and assist 40 FLTS personnel by providing advice, planning, and management recommendations regarding logistical, test support, and required supply action(s) for all Developmental Test activities executed and supported by the unit. Specific logistical support actions includes but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with conducting validation and verification of logistical requirements;

  • Assisting with identifying deficiencies in materials used in test programs;

  • Assisting in the development and execution of test procedures;

  • Providing advice and assistance as an active team member in the planning, reviewing, and evaluating of the DT&E technical support and logistical support requirements;

  • Assisting in the execution of squadron programs such as government vehicle program, flight line driving program, unit frequency monitor, and other programs related to logistics/supply;

  • Advanced Liaison, for ground test, and/or as a logistics support planner for test deployments to other test locations;

  • Applying familiarity with governing DoD regulations, USAF instructions and AFTC test methodologies to provide effective recommendations to test teams.

  • Assist in providing logistical support for the planning, shipment, installation, checkout, operation, testing, repair, and removal of test articles and equipment.

  • Assist in the assessment of the operability, suitability, integration, and functionality of test articles to ensure compliance of the equipment, in supporting data collections IAW guidance from the test engineer and Government personnel, as well as coordinating with external agencies for the purpose of acquiring resources to conduct testing for 40 FLTS customers and make resources available for other organization test programs.

  • Demonstrate knowledge in the T&E management process.

  • Assist in setting up and taking down test support equipment; shall understand the type of tests that will be conducted, and the peculiar maintenance/logistics/weapons needs of the test project.

    Requirements:

  • A Master's degree in an applicable discipline with 10 years of relevant experience is required. *Years of experience may be substituted for education requirement, per customer approval.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, especially Excel.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment, and on occasion to lead and direct the work of others.

  • Strong communicator with knowledge of professional engineering concepts, principles, and techniques including substantive experience in the field of test and evaluation of new or modified weapon systems desired.

  • Experience in executing test missions at Eglin AFB, other DoD installations, and other test locations desired.

    Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
