Position Summary

Reporting to the Test Engineering Manager, or designee, this is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the Kahr Bearing Engineering team supporting the testing of new and existing products, as well as supporting manufacturing. *Following a 30 to 60-day training period on day shift, the duration of which shall be determined by demonstrated understanding and performance of required tasks, this role is a designated second shift position with hours from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday. The 30 to 60-day training period is a non-modifiable requirement of this role.

The following defines the responsibilities of a Test Lab - Technician II as required to meet and support the needs of the Kahr Bearing Test Lab, working closely with Kahr Engineering and Production departments. The Test Lab -Technician II is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and repair of dynamic test equipment; the set-up, performance and documenting of dynamic tests as defined by Kahr Engineering; and materials, chemical and component testing in compliance with operating and quality systems procedures as stated in process bulletins and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Performs inspection, analysis, troubleshooting, tear down, assembly, and maintenance of dynamic test. equipment, including hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic components and related equipment.
  • Conducts acceptance testing of materials, chemicals, and mechanical components as defined in work instructions, test procedures, drawings and standards.
  • Perform set up and validation of test equipment in accordance with established protocols and Engineering instructions to ensure smooth and efficient completion of test procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate planning to obtain and prepare equipment and materials required for daily assigned tasks.
  • Perform job tasks according to procedures and schedules using established safe methods and processes.
  • Create and/or complete necessary test and equipment documentation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Maintain total quality assurance.
  • Carry out tasks with minimal supervision and strict attention to detail.
  • Work with team to identify and drive productivity and performance improvement opportunities and contribute to the continuous development of the safety, health and environmental requirements within the team\'s work area.
  • Comply with all safety recommendations and requirements.
  • Other tasks as directed by the Test Engineering Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Position requires a self-directed, motivated, detail and task-oriented individual who is able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • 3 years\' minimum experience in teardown, inspection, assembly, test, and troubleshooting of hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic components.
  • Ability to use hand tools, torque wrenches, calipers, scales, micrometers, ovens, presses.
  • Ability to read blueprints/engineering drawings.
  • Uses good judgment and appropriate techniques to perform preventative maintenance and ensure equipment calibration according to established procedures and schedules.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and accurate measurements.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • Must be able to read/comprehend, write, communicate orally, gather, and organize data.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required.
  • Good human relations skills and the ability to work well as par of a team.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Product Development and Qualification Testing.
  • Experience with hydraulic systems, actuators, servo-valves, and schematics.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend industry-related technical concepts and terms.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • The employee will be required to move throughout the building to collect, handle and process production paperwork and materials.
  • The employee will be required to stand for long periods throughout the day.
  • The employee must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
