Actalent Jr. Software Technician in Uniondale, New York

Function and Scope of Responsibilities:

Provide network support, maintenance, and troubleshooting services for the corporate network under the direction of the Network Manager.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Complete projects as per the supervisor’s direction.

  • Provide layer support for all network devices, including but not limited to workstations, servers, VoIP phones, video conference units, CCTV cameras, and wireless access points.

  • Plan for and execute firmware/software upgrades on all network equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and maintain wireless infrastructure technologies such as controllers, access points, and Identity Services.

  • Follow and implement current information security best practices in administering all network equipment and services.

  • Support and troubleshoot WAN connections for subsidiary locations.

  • Investigate network outages.

  • Create and maintain documentation of network infrastructure diagrams, device inventory, and knowledge base articles.

  • Perform other department-related support activities as needed.

Education Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or a related field and equivalent working knowledge of network operation systems and configurations are required.

Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience:

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.

  • Willingness to learn and attend training as needed.

  • Experience with switches, routers, network infrastructure, and monitoring tools.

  • Networking certifications are a plus.

  • This position requires occasional availability outside regular business hours for equipment installation, firmware/software updates, and other maintenance tasks as required.

  • This position could, on occasion, require kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting heavy equipment in support of IT.

  • Must have valid driver’s license/ ability to travel to NJ subsidiary when requested to do so.

  • Must be willing to work weekends and evenings if necessary.
