JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar with expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and a strong background in dryland ecosystems and tree dynamics. The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge in spatial analysis and environmental modeling, specifically applied to arid regions and their vegetation patterns. Proficiency in machine learning techniques and their integration with GIS for predictive modeling and data-driven insights is desired. The role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to innovate and advance research in landscape ecology and conservation, contributing to projects that aim to understand and mitigate the impacts of climate change on vulnerable ecosystems. This position will be working in the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Current and Emerging Threats to Crops. Applicants must have demonstrated the ability to publish high-quality research.
Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in an appropriate field and be able to provide evidence that all requirements have been met for completion of the Ph.D. prior to the effective date of hire.
This position will be located at Penn State in University Park, Pennsylvania. This position is a 100% in-person position, full-time, 48-week appointment for 1 year. This is a term position funded for one year from date of hire with a good possibility of re-funding. R eappointment is based on funding, satisfactory performance, and adherence to University policies.
