J & J Schlaegel, Inc. started over 30 years ago as a small, family owned business with emphasis on commercial and residential construction in Urbana, Ohio. We are a successful company that stresses continuous profitable growth benefiting our employees, customers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
The preferred candidate would carry out physical tasks at construction project sites with experience in utility installation, i.e. water, sewer, drainage, and bridge related functions. Candidate must be willing to perform the following functions:
- Assist with loading/unloading equipment and raw materials.
- Operate/use various hand tools, drills, rakes/shovels, pumps, etc.
- Participate in digging of trenches during excavation.
- Install water, sewer, drainage pipe, and knowledge of bridge installation.
- Prep, place and finish concrete surfaces.
- Assist in prepping, placement, and finish of asphalt during road repairs.
- Perform all related functions commonly performed as a laborer on a construction site.
- Appreciate the importance of construction site safety for themselves and others.
The ideal candidate would benefit, as well as the company, if they hold the following skill sets:
- Read and interpret construction blue prints/layouts
- CDL -- Class A
- Team Player
Basic understanding of ODOT/Municipal Specs
J&J pays Prevailing Wage (currently $35.52 per hour) on all projects, as well as $14.77 per hour to fund training, education, pension, and health & wellness benefits. Overtime pay (for hours over 40 per week) is available.
Company Management will work together to accommodate "personal" schedule needs.
