Job Summary

The Senior Director of Rehabilitation and Nursing Center (RNC) is responsible for the oversight of all key operational areas. The Senior Director is responsible for ongoing business development and service improvement and works under the general supervision of the Vice President of Post-Acute Services.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Leads and directs overall facility operations to provide quality patient care in accordance with all laws, regulations, and MVHS standards.

  • In collaboration with MVHS leadership, develops and executes a business plan that focuses on all aspects of operations and goal setting for the facility that focuses on cost effective and high quality care for residents.

  • Monitors and manages occupancy targets, daily census and resident turnover.

  • Oversees admission and discharge-planning functions for timeliness and accuracy.

  • Ensures provisions are made to appropriately market the facility, including tours, family meetings and outreach initiatives.

  • Actively manages the care collaboration processes. Ensures oversight, follow up and collaboration among staff and providers to provide appropriate, effective and coordinated care and services.

  • Ensures staffing and scheduling of staff meets resident needs.

  • Ensures facility is clean and safe for the comfort, convenience and safety of patients, families, and staff.

  • Promotes and role models a culture of service excellence and customer service.

  • Holds accountability for productivity standards.

  • Leads Quality Assurance Performance Improvement initiatives.

  • Develops and utilizes performance metrics or process improvement tools to continually assess and improve quality and operating efficiency, as well as resident/customer service.

  • Responsible for regulatory compliance. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Ensures that policies are in place, communicated, understood and consistently adhered to.

  • Ensures facility is survey ready at all times. Actively participates in and is available for all survey related activities.

  • Ensures all documentation for resident care and admissions is complete and accurate.

  • Maintains a system for registration of resident complaints with effective record keeping, follow-up and resolution.

  • Develops, recommends, monitors and manages operating budgets for the facility to optimize financial performance.

  • Ensures the availability of appropriately trained staff to deliver a high quality, consistent standard of care.

  • Cultivates a culture that promotes and rewards professional growth, interdisciplinary collaboration, constructive communication, flexibility, teamwork, and customer service.

  • Makes decisions or recommendations related to performance management, hiring, transfers, corrective actions, terminations, etc. In partnership with Human Resources, resolves staff issues and grievances in a fair, timely and consistent manner. Maintains a focus on internal talent management and retention.

  • Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals

  • Is available to respond to emergencies and business needs at all times.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Gerontology, Healthcare Administration, Business Management, a related field or equivalent experience.

  • 8 years of experience in skilled nursing or acute care.

  • 5 years of management experience.

  • Knowledge of NYS Department of Health and relevant governmental regulations.

  • Leadership skills, job knowledge and decision making skills to lead, guide and motivate staff and colleagues.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Results oriented, strong attention to detail and follow up, ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic computer knowledge.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Current NYS Nursing Home Administrator's License.
