Cardinal Health Senior Tax Accountant in Vaughan, Canada

Cardinal Health Canada, with over 1300 employees nationwide, is an essential link in the Canadian healthcare supply chain, providing over 70,000 products to healthcare facilities and medical professionals across the country.

We are currently seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to add to our team in Vaughan, ON. Reporting directly to the Manager, Accounting, you will bring strong accounting and analysis experience to this team and will be a critical part of our month-end/year-end closing activities. You will partner closely with other departments and service organizations to lead change and improve current processes. This is a hybrid role reporting to our Vaughan head-office 2 days a week (Tuesday/Wednesday)

Your Contributions to the Organization will be :

  • Prepares monthly returns for commodity taxes.

  • Research and uploads VAT rates for new products.

  • Maintains tax status classification of products for each Canadian province.

  • Liaises with customers and suppliers on matters of item taxability or exempt status.

  • Oversees and manages sales tax audits and CRA audits.

  • Manages quarterly tax provision with the assistance of outside consultants.

  • Monitors changes to tax legislation and informs management of potential implications.

  • Manages preparation of annual tax return by the outside firm.

  • Manages communication with external advisers and CRA.

  • Liaises with internal tax teams on audits, inquiries and implementation of different tax initiatives and audits.

  • Prepares Statistic Canada Surveys.

  • Manages insurance & lease payments.

  • Performs standard accounting function - month end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Tax SME on ERP implementation and other special projects

This Job might be for you if:

  • CPA (CA. CGA, CMA) designation preferred with at least 3 to 5 years’ experience in accounting

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance required

  • 3+ year experience with Canadian legal entity tax filings

  • Knowledge of SAP is required and JDE (an asset).

  • You have an understanding of complex tax rules and are able to research to determine correct tax treatment.

  • You showcase strong accounting, analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail.

  • You are able to clearly identify issues and bring them to a resolution.

  • You are a self-starter with a process improvement mindset in the work performed.

  • You have expert Excel skills with ability to work through significant volumes of data.

  • You possess clear and concise communication skills with the ability to partner successfully with third party organizations, finance, and other departments.

  • You are driven, customer-focused and result-oriented individual.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Medical Segment, distribution organization and/or large multinational organization
