Job Title: Packaging Operator

Level: L7

Report to: Packaging Production Coordinator

Location: Seychelles breweries

Context/Scope :

Seychelles Breweries has been operating in Seychelles since 1972 and is part of Diageo International.

SBL is proud of its heritage, growth of its brands and people.

It enjoys a market leader position as a premium drinks company but is facing an increasingly tough and challenging business environment.

SBL’s operational activities include Manufacturing (Brewing & Packaging) of Beers, RTDs and Soft drinks, Marketing, Sales and Distribution (both SBL products and Diageo Spirits).

The Operations department’s role is critical to ensure consistent supply of our products at the right time, volume, quality, and cost whilst keeping everybody on site safe.

We strive to achieve exemplary customer service, maximize the value of our assets, protect the reputation of our business and brands, enable innovation and ensure our people grow and develop.

Purpose of the role:

  • Work safely within the team.

  • Provide operational, continuous improvement, autonomous maintenance and quality skills.

  • Relentlessly observe and work to standards in area. Anything else is not acceptable.

  • Be an effective team member and team player

  • Accountable for delivery of effective shift handover

  • Deliver and improve performance targets in safety, quality, service, cost and asset care.

Key Accountabilities:

Upholding standards through practices

  • At all times adhere to Diageo health and safety, environmental and food safety standards.

  • Competent to understand the functions and working of machines or plant

  • Maintains a safe and organised workplace environment through adherence to the Safety and 5S MMS practices.

  • At all times work to reduce and eliminate waste

  • Work to deliver and beat team targets.

  • Challenge poor working practices and inappropriate activities.

  • Leave workplace ready for the next shift.

  • Operate machine or plant processes following defined standard operating procedures for machine operation and set up time reduction.

  • Perform autonomous maintenance tasks including clean, inspect and lubricate and respond to issues.

  • Understands and executes asset care procedures.

  • Responsible for quality control at line or process and performs quality at source testing.

  • Responsible for changeovers including CIPS – Optimisation, provide changeover support across machines and lines.

Qualifications:

  • No formal qualifications are required.

  • FLT licence and NVQ level 2 Food and drink desirable

Experience:

  • Numerical/verbal reasoning

  • Computer literate including a working knowledge of SAP, Informance

  • 1 years’ experience of shift working in a production team in an FMCG environment.

  • Competent to understand the functions and working of machines including planned maintenance and lubrication at basic level

  • Knowledge of process control and operational excellence techniques.

  • Knowledge of risk standards (Quality H&S Environment)
