The General Manager has responsibility for all activities connected with strategy and tactics, sales and production, delivery and customer experience, employee engagement, and financial performance of the Labware and Glassware business.
Accountability:
Full P&L responsibility and working capital management responsibilities
Advocate, apply and drive the ATS Business Model (ABM): People, Process and Performance
Attract, recruit and retain key talent
Drive accountability across all functions through ABM: Rigorous discipline applied with common sense
Complete customer satisfaction within distributor and direct sales channel environments
Ensure adequate risk mitigation through all business processes
Ability to lead and inspire division focus on Labware/Glassware strategic plan
Responsibilities
Foster collaboration amongst the leadership team, offer and accept discussions, debates, and insights sufficient to develop and monitor strategic thought process and initiatives.
Lead the team in developing thoughtful and timely tactics aligned with strategic objectives
Support marketing, sales channel management, and sales processes to drive bookings at requisite margin expectations.
Provide overall operational direction and consistency to enhance productivity, quality, and customer service.
Drive and foster a continuous improvement mindset
Improve products and processes to match world class standards.
Be accountable for proper delegation of responsibility, assignment of authority and adequate reporting systems and controls to ensure business operations and stakeholder value are optimized.
Responsible for delivering budgeted P&L and working capital expectations, employee engagement and customer satisfaction, trade compliance, health and safety compliance, and compliance with all ATS policy, and procedures
Demonstrate leadership in and ensure conformity to all matters of compliance including trade compliance, health and safety, policy, and procedures, and ATS Code of Business Conduct
Develop, communicate, and implement mid- and long-term goals and production plans for areas of responsibility to ensure continued excellence, including appropriate contingency and risk planning:
Prepare annual operating budgets, capital project requests, and establish productivity goals and standards for each area of responsibility.
Monitor and control expenditures and labor costs to operate within approved budget guidelines. Identify variances and potential corrective actions.
Additional Responsibilities
Establish and monitor department labor and overhead budgets and monitor spending. Provide for the administration of department employees including training, development, and discipline.
Appropriate interface and co-operation with Segment and Corporate executives including observance of inter-department and inter-divisional systems, routines and communications that are essential to overall company efficiency.
Conducts annual appraisals of senior management.
Maintain a co-operative working relationship with your counterparts in other ATS divisions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business or similar, MBA preferred
Minimum 10 years commercial experience with distributor sales channels Minimum 10 years of experience in leadership in a manufacturing company
Experience with continuous improvement culture, creating transparency through visual management and driving improvement with problem solving.
Experience with budgeting and financial statement ownership (profit & loss)
Understand the dynamics of a General Manager’s role for a business unit inside a global, publicly traded organization.
Excellent interpersonal skills, delegation, and a collaborative management style.
Strategic planning and goal setting experience.
Maturity, presence, and perceived level of competence to deliver results, achieve credibility and respect from within in Scientific Product and across the broader ATS organization
Solid understanding of complex operations and supply chain management
The human relation skills required to effectively manage and motivate a large work force while maintaining good relationships between management and employees and avoiding third party intervention.
A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards.

All managers are responsible for creating a positive safety culture and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. It is the responsibility of each manager to ensure that employees receive regular training regarding health, safety and environmental matters. Each manager is also accountable to ensure that HSE matters are addressed in a timely manner and that compliance with both legislative and corporate requirements are maintained.
Manager responsibilities for Health, Safety and Environment include:
Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environment compliance
Hold team members accountable for health, safety and environmental compliance as part of the annual performance review process
Ensure that the requirements of the health, safety and environment management system are implemented and maintained
Carry out hazard assessments, inspections, and audits as required by legislative framework and/or corporate requirements
Ensure that training is provided to all departmental employees are per established training matrix
Implement appropriate corrective measures for unsafe conditions and unsafe acts
Ensure that appropriate equipment, materials and protective devices are provided and maintained in safe condition
Provide information, instruction and supervision to employees
Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employees
