Job Description:
Fairfield University’s Department of Mathematics invites applications for a Faculty of the Practice in Mathematics at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor to join the Math Department on the Bellarmine Campus. This three-year renewable appointment begins September 1, 2025. Faculty of the Practice have teaching, advising, and service commitments. Faculty will be members of the Department of Mathematics of Fairfield University’s College of Arts & Sciences and assigned primary teaching responsibilities at the Bellarmine Campus. Over the course of nine months, the selected individual will have a 3/3 teaching load. Courses taught include Precalculus, Concepts of Calculus, Mathematics: An Exploration, Applied Calculus I and II, Elementary Probability and Statistics, and Statistics I.
Fairfield Bellarmine is a two-year Associate’s degree program located at the new Bridgeport, CT campus which offers a rigorous liberal arts education in an area underserved by higher education opportunities by offering small class sizes and individualized advising. The curriculum will include core classes steeped in the humanities, as is traditional in Jesuit higher education, as well as majors in the professional fields of engineering, health studies, business, and liberal arts. Students who graduate from this program matriculate into four-year degree programs at Fairfield and elsewhere, or enter directly into the professions. While at Fairfield Bellarmine, students enjoy extensive support services, including career advising, counseling, food service, technology support, and campus ministry. The successful candidate will hold an advanced degree (terminal degree preferred) in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or a closely related discipline, and will have experience teaching a wide variety of students at the college or community college level, and a deep commitment to helping students of all backgrounds learn and succeed at mathematics.
