Mid-Level Substation Design Engineer

Job Summary

POWER Engineers is currently seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer with experience in substation design. This position is in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our St Louis, Missouri office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within driving distance of the office).

Responsibilities

  • Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations.

  • One-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling.

  • Occasional travel may be required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Ability to function as a Mid Level Substation Design Engineer in our St Louis office.

  • BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university.

  • Experience in 15kV through 500kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards.

  • Experience filling the role of substation design engineer for several projects occurring concurrently.

  • The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

Desired Education/Experience

  • Five (5) or more years experience in utility substation design as outlined above.

  • Engineer in Training registration (EIT) or Professional Engineering license (PE).

  • Experience in managing small project teams.

Base Salary Range: $85K - $95K

The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job related knowledge, skills, experience and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.
