Steel Machine Operator Job Description
Machine Operation: Operate CNC machines, plasma cutters, shears, saws, punch presses, and other fabrication equipment to cut, shape, and drill steel components with precision.
Material Handling: Safely load, unload, and position steel beams, plates, and other materials using overhead cranes, forklifts, or manual techniques.
Blueprint Reading: Accurately interpret and follow technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure precise fabrication of components.
Welding and Assembly: Perform basic welding, bolting, and fitting of steel components as required, ensuring proper assembly of parts.
Quality Control: Inspect finished products for defects, ensuring adherence to specifications and maintaining structural integrity.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all workplace safety regulations, consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and operate machinery in a safe manner to minimize risk.
Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance on machines and tools, promptly reporting any malfunctions or required repairs to maintain operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in steel fabrication, machine operation, or a related field.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Proficiency with measuring tools, including calipers, tape measures, and micrometers.
- Basic knowledge of welding, grinding, and other metalworking techniques.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality control standards.
