II-VI AEROSPACE & DEFENSE Intern, Optical Engineer in Warren, New Jersey
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Design and Analysis: Assist in the design and analysis of optical systems and laboratory experiment setups, including selection of parts and equipment to support design goals.
Laboratory Experiments: Assist optical and mechanical engineers in building and optimizing laboratory experiments, including assembly and alignments of lasers, lenses, mirrors, and other optical/electrical/mechanical components. Conduct experiments and use laboratory instruments to make measurements. Use software tools to analyze and document results.
Education & Experience
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in optical engineering, physics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
Skills
Completed college-level coursework in optics and/or laser design
Proficient using office collaboration tools (such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams)
Experience with mathematical modeling software (such as MATLAB) is desired
Experience using optical design software tools (such as Zemax) is a plus
Experience with mechanical modeling software (such as SolidWorks) is a plus
Working Conditions
Primarily an engineering function with offer working conditions.
