Job Overview

The Interreligious Coordinator helps promote Jewish, Muslim and Dharmic (Buddhist, Hindu, Jain and Sikh) Life on campus through the coordination of religious services, pastoral support, educational programs, service opportunities, and events. They work closely with Jewish, Muslim, and Dharmic chaplains to provide a spiritual home and enrich the spiritual lives of Georgetown’s students, faculty, and staff in these communities.

As well, they facilitate connections between students and these campus communities and serve as a welcoming and affirming presence at services and events. They recruit, train and manage an interreligious team of student workers to logistically implement chaplaincy and interfaith programs and events.

In addition to support for Jewish, Muslim, and Dharmic Life, the Interreligious Coordinator supports development and execution of interfaith programs and initiatives for the department to foster collaboration and understanding.

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Interreligious Engagement, the Interreligious Coordinator provides direct support to the Directors for Jewish Life, Muslim Life, and Dharmic Life.

Additionally, they work closely with other program staff (including events, communications, and ecumenical staff members) and are supported by a team of student workers which they manage; and work closely with the Managing Director and the Assistant Director for Interreligious Engagement in facilitating interfaith programs and initiatives.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field - preference for a Master’s degree

  • 1 years of administrative, event-coordination, or programmatic work experience - preference for 2 years of experience preferred.

  • Ability to work closely with leaders and students from many faith traditions, including experience navigating religiously or culturally diverse spaces - preference for experiences related to Jewish, Muslim or Dharmic traditions (Buddhist, Hindu, Jain, Sikh)

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to navigate complex organizational environments

  • Ability to multi-task, problem-solve and balance independent and collaborative work strategies

  • Creativity and attention to detail

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and basic Excel

  • Skill in web content and social media management

  • Availability for evening and weekend services, programs and retreats, scheduled in consultation with supervisor

    Pay Range:

    The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$20.16 - $31.30

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
