Job Description
The Java Platform Group is responsible for developing features and enhancements for the Java programming language. The Serviceability team within this group is responsible for developing features which make it easier to triage, troubleshoot, monitor and optimize Java applications. These features encompass a wide range of technologies including the JVM Tools Interface (JVMTI), Java Debugger Interface (JDI), Java Management Extensions (JMX), Serviceability Agent, Attach Framework, and a host of tools supporting JVM profiling, monitoring and management. We work closely with the Compiler, Runtime, and GC teams to collaborate on new feature design and development.

Responsibilities
As a member of the Java Serviceability team, you will be responsible for the design and development of new Serviceability features and for ensuring quality across multiple Java release trains, working in collaboration with other internal Oracle teams and the OpenJDK community to provide support for emerging Java technologies. You will provide maintenance of current Serviceability features and design new features that help keep Java vibrant.
Qualifications
Functional knowledge of the Java language and of the JVM, including garbage collection mechanics, classloaders, byte-code instrumentation, and idiomatic Java programming
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or the equivalent
Strong hands-on design and development experience in Java development
Experience in native development
Experience in multi-platform development
Experience in C/C++ coding
Ability to create proof of concepts, code prototypes to showcase improvements
Experience with version control, build infrastructure, and continuous integration systems
Good communication skills to interact with a geographically distributed Java team

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $79,800 to $178,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
