Google Staff Software Developer, Cloud Applied AI in Waterloo, Ontario

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).

  • 3 years of experience with machine learning algorithms and tools, or Applied ML (e.g., LLMs, Generative AI, NLP, Recommendations).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.

  • 6 years of experience in Applied Machine Learning, including teams responsible for business metrics on user-facing products.

  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.

  • Experience in designing APIs for external customers.

The Cloud Applied AI teams goal is to support enterprises to innovate conversational AI products such as contact centers, conversational interfaces on websites, devices and mobile apps. We apply state-of-the-art of AI/ML to the conversational problems and work on building the next generation of customer service.

  • Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals. Align strategy, processes, and decision-making across teams.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement software systems that incorporate ML/LLM components.

  • Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects.

  • Build customizable solutions for customers in need of Voice Assistant interfaces or products.

  • Be up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in machine learning.
