McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Monmouth University seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Communication and Film Production, to begin on September 1, 2025.We seek an outstanding film/visual media practitioner and scholar/artist to teach Film Studies and Production. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach a range of undergraduate film and visual media based courses within the Communication Department with the opportunity to help develop a new interdisciplinary BA program in film. Courses could include introductory level film studies as well as advanced courses in film production, post production, emerging digital production techniques, lighting, and cinematography. We welcome candidates who specialize in various areas of film, including global, experimental, and documentary filmmaking, etc.The Department of Communication offers three concentrations: Communication, Culture, and Leadership; Journalism, Public Relations, and Sports Communication; and Media, Content Creation, and Sports. Additionally, the department offers a dynamic Screen Studies minor and an Interactive Media minor, as well as a Master's program in Communication that offers courses in Interactive Digital Media, Communication and Culture, and Public Relations and Social Media.The department's facilities include a multi-camera 4K video and broadcasting studio and control room, multiple edit suites, an interactive digital media lab, a media equipment depot, a 1,000-watt radio station, two podcasting studios, a student news office, a student public relations office, and several computer labs.Students studying film and media production have opportunities to work with MU Production Services, which is housed in the Communication Department and hires students to work closely with the director and industry professionals.
