Position Overview:

As the Capital Project Manager, youre a key member of the Global Engineering Team, reporting to the Director, Regional Capital Projects -North &Central Amierca (NCA). You will contribute to the success of Ball by providing leadership and direct activities involved with the planning and implementation of assigned projects of all types.

Your Key Areas of Responsibilities Include:

  • Set and track the budget for different project aspects, ensure equipment and service orders are placed that support overall project costs and schedules.

  • Hire contract professionals and select project team members from internal departments. Create and adjust project schedules to adhere to deadlines and financial requirements.

  • Establish and monitor project schedules; make use of the critical path approach to scheduling; revise project schedules as required to maintain project goals; develop responsibility plans and start-up production plans.

  • Comply with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work environment. Conduct all of work with communication and coordination involving appropriate engineering and plant organizations.

  • Coordinate feasibility studies and pre-authorization evaluation of options for assigned projects. Gather, analyze, organize and present information with collaboration from the customer, manufacturing, engineering, finance and all other appropriate business areas.

  • Write AFEs and requisitions with detailed work scopes, accurate cost estimates, and clear, thorough communication of the project goals and justification.

  • Manage projects to minimize the cost required to achieve approved project objectives, effectively using Balls project accounting systems. Keep the cost control spreadsheets updated and continuously reforecast spending requirements to complete projects.

  • Keep leadership and project team informed of project status, including progress, problems, cost, and schedule through regularly published project status reports.

  • Effectively build and lead all disciplines of project teams, incorporating engineering, customer, and other departments personnel.

  • Establish engineering documentation, change order and work order controls to ensure project design and construction is in accordance with appropriate standards and meets the approved requirements for the project.

  • Extensive and innovative use of the computer for project planning and scheduling (Microsoft Project), accounting (Cost Control), purchasing (Coupa), organization (Action Item Lists), verbal and written communications, to keep stakeholders informed and accountable to project goals.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelors in Engineering or Project Management or equivalent education and broad training/experience manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience work in a manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 5 years of project implementation experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience leading others to achieve common goals.

  • Ability and willingness to travel 60-70% both internationally and domestically.

  • Computer Proficiency: All Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint Outlook, Project, etc.)and business systems (such as: Coupa, JDE, etc.).

  • Financial acumen: budgeting and accounting practices; forecasting.

  • Demonstrated Skills:

  • Understanding manufacturing equipment and processes.

  • Working knowledge of production equipment for aluminum beverage containers (highly preferred).

  • Working knowledge of risk management and mitigation.

  • Working knowledge of project management including scope definition, schedule development (Gantt charts), organizing, monitoring and reviewing (Action Item Logs, etc.)

  • Organized, self-motivated and action-oriented.

  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication.

  • Excellent relationship building and influencing skills; will lead people outside their direct reporting line; work effectively with people throughout the company and outside organizations.

  • Experience leading through difficult situations.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hiring Salary Range: $106,100 - $161,920 (Salary to be determined by the applicants education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)

  • This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.

  • This position is eligible to be REMOTE in the U.S., preferably with a home base within a 50-mile radius of a major airport, due to travel (60-70%) requirements. While the regular working cycle of this position is usually five days (Monday-Friday), this job may include working weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Working hours may vary as specified by leadership and/or as required by project needs. Must be able to work overtime on a regular basis and/or be on call as directed by leadership.
