Commander, Navy Installations SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii

Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the OPERATIONS FIRE SUPPRESSION AND PROTECTION DIVISION of COMMANDER NAVY REGION HAWAII. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 8.90% will be added to the stated salary. COLA is subject to change at any time. Responsibilities You will coordinate with officers on other shifts and stations to ensure work accomplishment, training, and priorities are met. You will verify personnel use the correct personal protection equipment during firefighting incidents to ensure safety. You will persuade employees to accept changes in firefighting procedures and policies in light of organizational conflict, competing objectives, or resource limitations. You will prepare lesson plans for student firefighter training. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Plans, distributes, coordinates, and monitors work assignments of others evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance; 2) Applying knowledge of the concepts, principles, and theories of fire control and extinguishment, including characteristics and behavior of fire; 3) ability to apply firefighting techniques in hazardous environments; 4 ability to apply basic emergency medical techniques, including patient assessment, patient treatment, rescue breathing, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and noninvasive medical procedures; and 5) ability to prepare individuals for transport to a medical facility 6). This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I/II, Fire Officer I/II, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Awareness, HAZMAT Operations, HAZMAT Incident Commander, Driver Operator Pumper. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. The following certifications, if not already held, must be obtained within 12 months of hire as mandatory condition of position: Driver Operator ARFF, Driver Operator Aerial, Shipboard Firefighter, National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT).
