Job Summary:

To utilize multi-skill diagnostics and repair techniques to maintain and repair a wide variety of conventional machine tools and electrically controlled machinery. May be required to assist lower grade employees.

Job Responsibilities:

Diagnoses and repairs conventional machine tools and electrically controlled machinery. Requires machine mechanic expertise as well as an electrical/electronic competency to meet the requirements of the position.

Performs preventative maintenance procedures on a wide variety of electronic, electromechanical, mechanical equipment and production machinery.

Requires the ability to use electrical/electronic diagnostic equipment such as multi–meters and infrared scanning equipment in addition to common tools and/or other measuring devices used to repair mechanical issues.

Coordinates and/or performs assigned work which may require to partner with contractors and other maintenance personnel to ensure repairs are made properly and with minimum impact to operations.

Maintains open communication with supervision and customer department personnel. Documents all activities with CMMS tools and departmental procedural requirements.

May be required to guide 1-2 equivalent grade employees when performing projects/repairs where the lead may have the knowledge and experience needed to complete the required project/repair.

Operates powered shop equipment (e.g. drill presses, grinders, band saws), hand tools, cranes, hoists, forklifts and uses lift equipment or ladders to access overhead equipment.

Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education:

Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification. Must be competent in the use of machine drawings and schematic materials. Completion of formal technical training in electrical/electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems preferred.

Experience:

Requires a minimum of 5 years of documented experience in electrical/electronics as well as a diversified experience in hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems.

Working Conditions:

Somewhat disagreeable working conditions due to noise, dust, dirt, oil, grease and weather. Occasional hazardous conditions caused by hazardous materials and processes.
