BMW Of North America Senior Product & Service Development Engineer in WOODCLIFF LAKE, New Jersey

Senior Product & Service Development Engineer for BMW of North America, LLC in Woodcliff Lake, NJ to Perform work that is essential to the successful and efficient operation of the technology between the US and Germany for BMW of North America. Define, communicate, and manage product requirements for US market, as well as evaluate and verify the functionality of vehicle components and systems for all BMW Group vehicles (BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce, BMWi).Lead a team of engineers and/or interns in day-to-day technical activities. Define, communicate, and manage product requirements for responsible features. Align market requirements with Product Planning, Engineering, and Technical Service departments. Prioritize and negotiate with development partners in BMW AG to ensure requirements are implemented into future BMW Group vehicles and products. Identify and communicate US customer expectations, customer behavior, market trends, market infrastructure, competitor offerings, and strategies. Conduct market and customer research, competitor benchmarking, and BMW Group product evaluations, as well as review and evaluate 3rd party studies and surveys such as JD Power IQS. Analyze and understand the results, define measures, and specify new requirements as needed. Update and maintain proper calibration of data acquisition equipment and correct vehicle test HW/SW. Steer the implementation of US-specific requirements during the development phase of new systems, functions, and features. Negotiate and align with BMW engineering to ensure an on-time integration of US-specific characteristics into newly developed functions/systems. Continuously communicate new requirements from marketplace and customers for development of BMW technologies, and align and monitor the development and implementation status of each requested feature/system. *The Senior Product & Service Development Engineer may have a team of direct reports. Requires Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Information Systems, or related scientific field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus five (5) years of experience in Senior Product & Service Development Engineer or related occupation (engineering-related project management or personnel supervision experience). Or, alternatively: a Master's degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Information Systems, or related scientific field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of Senior Product & Service Development Engineer or related occupation (engineering-related project management or personnel supervision experience. Experience must include (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section): Experience with IT infrastructure and mobile communications; Working as an automotive infotainment product or function owner; Steering and monitoring multiple project suppliers; Experience with US-specific entertainment functionalities; Agile software development and coding processes.
