WSP USA Bridge Inspection Team Leader - Senior Structural Engineer in Worcester, Massachusetts
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Bridge Inspection Team Leader - Senior Structural Engineer to provide experienced leadership of bridge projects and mentor upcoming leaders in our New England offices, including Boston and Worcester, MA/ Providence, RI/ Merrimack, NH/ Glastonbury, CT. Your Impact
Work with our Bridge/Highway Design Team on a variety of project development and design tasks.
Perform professional structural engineering work and inspections.
Assist in the preparation of Bridge Load Ratings
Work as a Team Member on Bridge Inspections
Assist with the development of plans/sketches using AutoCAD
Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects.
Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
Remain current in latest structural engineering techniques and practices.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
7 - 10 years of experience in bridge inspection or design or other bridge related work.
Engineer in Training Certification (PE preferred).
Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.
Demonstrated interest in structures, transportation or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members.
Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) is required.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering or related Undergraduate program. OR
Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering, or related, Masters or PhD program.
Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred.
A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations
