Yonkers Family YMCA Facility Cleaner in Yonkers, New York
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Custodial Coordinator, the Facility Cleaner is responsible for the general cleaning and disinfection of the interior and exterior of the building and grounds areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Clean and disinfect entire facility. 2. Inspect, clean and maintain custodial equipment. 3. Empty all trash, clean walls and other surfaces, clean windows, sanitize bathrooms and locker rooms, fill dispensers, dust, sweep, mop and wax floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets and collect all recyclable items. 4. Coordinate deep cleaning and disinfection of facility pursuant to CDC and DOH to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. 5. Report to the Custodial Coordinator any damage to property or needed repairs. 6. May occasionally require an adjusted work schedule, extended hours including evenings/weekends to meet project deadlines. 7. All other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED. Candidates must have a minimum of one years experience in facility cleaning and disinfection. Must have the ability to operate cleaning equipment or willingness to acquire the necessary skills. Must possess strong organizational skills as well as excellent communication skills. Must be able to work independently, as well as collaboratively with fellow staff members. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
