Job Title: Quality Engineer

Job Description

The candidate will be responsible for supporting, facilitating, and driving the problem-solving process where opportunities for improvement are identified. You will work within or lead a cross-functional team through problem-solving steps to ensure continual improvements. The role focuses on direct and continuous improvement activities centered around opportunities identified by internal and external parties, including direct communication with customers, field service, and internal audits.

Responsibilities

  • Support, facilitate, and drive the problem-solving process.

  • Work within or assemble and lead cross-functional teams to assure continual improvements.

  • Focus on direct and continuous improvement activities based on opportunities identified by internal and external parties.

  • Cultivate collaborative and supportive partnerships with all appropriate parties.

  • Plan, define, develop, and revise supporting process and product-related documentation.

  • Update, improve, and enhance internal documents such as procedures and travelers.

  • Work with CQEs to ensure actions taken are captured and reflected in both internal and external PPAP documentation.

  • Consolidate and standardize documentation to ensure critical characteristics are effectively controlled in quality planning.

  • Develop and execute quality improvement/action plans with CGE and SQEs.

  • Participate in, oversee, and facilitate cross-functional team activities to identify root causes and implement countermeasures.

  • Oversee containment activities to establish internal and external clean points.

  • Collect, analyze, report, and present data to support decision-making.

  • Support and lead cross-functional teams through problem-solving activities to drive corrective actions.

  • Identify, assign, and track activities required to address open actions and tasks.

  • Support timely and effective responses to customer/supplier complaints and 8D’s.

  • Verify actions have been implemented, sustained, and remain effective.

  • Apply countermeasures to all processes/products where issues may be encountered.

  • Monitor and report progress and overall status to multiple levels within the organization.

  • Address product, process, equipment, and tooling issues on the production floor.

  • Monitor and measure internal performance against defined quality metrics/KPI’s.

  • Report status and provide updates for open/in-process corrective actions.

  • Drive A3 projects to closure, gathering and populating evidence of data, planning, actions, and results.

Essential Skills

  • Quality engineering experience.

  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and other quality/environmental standards.

  • 3+ years of experience in quality roles.

  • Black Belt or Lean Six Sigma certification.

  • Strong statistical analysis skills

  • Proven complex problem-solving experience.

  • Highly effective root-cause analysis experience.

  • Ability to lead or work within a team to improve processes and product quality.

  • Strong computer/software skills.

  • Highly adaptable to ERP and design document control software.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Highly organized, maintaining evidence for corrective actions and PPAP documents.

  • Experience in leading and supporting audits and follow-up evaluations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality management, or manufacturing engineering.

  • 3-5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing quality roles.

  • Experience in manufacturing processes as an operator, line lead, assembler, or related role.

  • Experience reading drawings, BOM documents, engineering standards, technical specifications, and understanding of GD&T.

  • CQE/CQA or CQP from ASQ/ISM preferred.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt preferred.

Work Environment

This role is based in a brand-new 220,000 sq-ft manufacturing facility in York, PA, expandable to 350,000 sq-ft. The candidate will work under a team lead and collaborate with a team consisting of 3 quality technicians and a customer quality engineer.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
